Hypnosis is a natural state of mind, a heightened state of suggestibility. Your mind goes in and out of hypnosis (alpha brain wave state) throughout the day. Have you ever been driving and thinking so intently on something that you forgot how far you’d traveled? You were in a state of hypnosis.
Hypnosis works beautifully with meridian tapping. Both bypass the conscious mind and work with the subconscious mind. Your conscious mind is so busy analyzing and judging that it often causes analysis paralysis. As a result, you feel stuck!
Why is it so important to work with the subconscious mind? Think of an iceberg. The major part of it lies underneath the water and is symbolic of the subconscious mind. Every single experience of your life resides here. Emotions reside in the subconscious and it runs off of the energy of emotions.
The part above the water is likened to the conscious, a much smaller surface. The conscious mind works much more slowly than the subconscious, and it directs the subconscious down a path, the path being our resulting habits/patterns.
If the subconscious mind doesn’t feel safe with the direction the conscious mind offers it, you are stuck. This feels like self-sabotage, and I’m sure you’ve been there before. This is why it is so crucial to gain the cooperation of the subconscious mind.
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, meaning that you are always the one in charge and in control of your mind. If you attain success, it’s because YOU allowed it; if you don’t it’s because YOU didn’t allow it. I cannot hypnotize you against your will.
People have 4 main concerns about being hypnotized. 1) They are afraid they can’t be hypnotized. Most people can easily be hypnotized and we only need you in a light state for it to be effective. 2) They think you will take control over them and make them “cluck like a chicken.” Again, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You are always in control, not the hypnotist. 3) They fear the hypnotist will make them say something that don’t want to tell. This is simply not possible. You’ll only DO or SAY what you want. 4) They fear they’ll get stuck in hypnosis. Not true again. It’s a natural state they will easily come out of.
